Sara has officially classified Mt. Redoubt as the most annoying volcano because of the ash fall she and the rest of us experienced this last Saturday. The three of us were attending her schools fundraiser which began at 3:00 p.m. At 3:20 p.m. the volcano erupted and no one at the fundraiser knew anything about it; since out of courtesy to the auction being conducted everyone was asked to turn off their cell phones. At the end of the auction when everyone was checking out and cleaning up, one of the parents came in to warn everyone that it was "ashing" outside.
Bill and I bundled up Sara, told her to keep her eyes closed and we proceeded to the car as quickly as we could. We put on her mask and made a mad dash home. Thankfully the ash was minimal, but it is amazing what a mess a small amount of ash can make. Both cars had to be cleaned inside and out; not to mentioned we all needed to be bathed and scrubbed since it was in our hair. Bill got it in his eye pretty good; but thankfully he is alright. Ironically he had an eye appointment the next day and they prescribed him some drops to help with the dryness/scratchiness that he is experiencing with his eyes.
