January Fun!

As usual we have had a very busy January.  The Christmas decorations came down the 2nd weekend of January and then it has been nothing but work, school, swimming and ice-skating since.  Sara as usual is doing excellent in school.  In fact, we were very delighted to hear that she received not one but two academic achievement awards in both Mathematics and Technology.  She adores all her teachers and loves doing homework; which I find quite odd---but still very pleased that she is so into learning and school.  We can only hope that this desire will continue.

Last night we decided to go stretch our legs since it is relatively warm out for Alaska (low 20's).  After the sub-zero temperatures this last month or so, this is actually a very nice break.  We ventured downtown to town square to check out this year's ice sculptures.  Overall, very nice; some were just magnificent - - like the Lynx and Woolly Mammoth.  There did not seem to be as many this year, but still it was a great turn out.  After playing around on the ice maze and skating rink we ended the evening by going to one of our favorite restaurants the 'Glacier Brewhouse' and having some wonderful food...YUM!

Right now Sara is at yet another ice-skating practice in which she is learning a routine for the upcoming Fur Rondy Ice Show that she will be participating in.  Sara has been skating for about a year now and really loves it.  The group she is skating with for the show is called "Safari" in which she will be dressed up as a Zebra....too cute I tell you.  As usual I will be sure to take lots and lots of pictures.
