After a successful summer camp with ADT (Alaska Dance Theatre) we chose to enroll Sara for the Fall semester and let her explore dancing a bit more. She absolutely L-O-V-E-S it! The classroom is private, meaning the kids go in on their own and the parents can wait in the lobby area or go run errands. The instructors find it to be less distracting for their students and have much more success with the kids. Of course the parents are allowed in during scheduled "show weeks". The difference with a closed classroom and a open classroom is HUGE in how they behave.
When Sara is finished with class she literally bolts out of the classroom lunging into my arms full of excitement, telling me (more like shouting) what she loved about class today. It is a real joy seeing that type of excitement and enthusiasm in her face.
In addition to dance she is also doing gymnastics at Aurora Kids (formerly the Little Gym). We have been with this organization since she was 15 months old. It sure helps make the winter go by when I can take her to a place where she can run and tumble inside without having to put on numerous layers of clothing. We love Aurora kids, and will let Sara enjoy this as long as she holds an interest in it.
Finally, in preparation for our upcoming trip to Arizona this Christmas and others we hope to do; Sara is also in swimming classes 2 nights a week for 30 minutes. In just three short weeks she has made remarkable progress. The girl who has NEVER liked to put her head under water since birth, now does it without a problem. She is blowing bubbles like a pro and getting much more comfortable and confident in the water. She is not swimming independently, and I certainly don't expect her to any time soon, but both Bill and I are simply amazed and very proud of our little fish.
In other news, FALL is in full swing Anchorage. With the crappy summer Anchorage has had, we can only hope that we have a decent winter. We plan on keeping very busy in hopes of making winter go by faster.
With the first snowfall less than a month I feel like we are in a major rush to complete projects around the house. We are finishing up our interior painting project, now consisting of 2 doors and trim in a few rooms. All outdoor furniture and toys need to be put away and covered up, plant beds cleaned out and snow tires put on the vehicles. Yesterday we brought Mom & Dad's motor home in to be winterized. And by all means...don't forget those gutters. It seems like preparing for winter is never ending; especially when we did not even get a chance to enjoy summer:(
